Choose the default model Nebula uses for you. Set a personal default and let agents pick the right model per task when it matters.
You can choose the model Nebula uses for you by default. Set it once in your account settings, and every new conversation starts with your preferred model.
Set your default model
Open Settings → Model to see the available models and pick the one you want as your default.
Nebula Max
Max is the heavier tier of Nebula's own model, and it's available to everyone. Turn it on with the Max pill in the composer, right next to where you type — there's no settings page to hunt for and nothing to enable first.
The pill only shows up when you're on a Nebula model. Pick a different model as your default and it steps out of the way.
Max is yours alone: switching it on changes your conversations, not your teammates'. It sticks until you turn it off, so you don't have to set it per chat. The desktop app's quick-send window has the same toggle.
Reach for Max on long, involved work — multi-step coding, research that has to hold a lot of context at once. For everyday back-and-forth the standard tier is quicker and usually enough.
Your default vs per-task choice
Your default is a starting point, not a hard rule. Agents can still pick a different model for a specific task when that gets a better result.

Performance vs. depth
Heavier models reason more deeply on complex work; lighter models reply faster and are great for quick back-and-forth. You don't have to optimize this yourself — start with the default and adjust only if replies feel too slow or not thorough enough. Because an agent can pick a stronger model for a hard step on its own, most people leave the default in place and let Nebula handle the rest.
