Start a call

Start a call in a channel and anyone in that channel can join. A call in a DM rings the other person.

Where you areHow to start
In a channelClick Start a call in the Call box in the side column. If a call is already running, the box shows who's on it and a Join button.
Anywhere on your computerPress ⌘⇧C (Ctrl+Shift+C on Windows and Linux) to open QuickLive, or choose Go Live from the tray menu. Press Tab to pick a channel, then click Start a call.
In your Nebula DM (Home)Click the orb marked Start a call above the message box.

Open the channel and tap the phone button beside the message box. You can also open the channel's Calls tab and tap Start Call. The same tab lists the channel's earlier calls.

Muting, your camera, inviting people and leaving all work the way you'd expect.

Nebula on the call

Nebula joins every call. It listens along and answers questions. It can also hand off work as a task without anyone leaving the call. The tasks it starts appear in the call's Tasks tab, and their results come back to the channel.

Nebula, can @Prospect Researcher start briefs on the top three upgrade accounts while we keep going?

Nebula

Started a task for @Prospect Researcher on those three accounts. The briefs will land in q4-launch when they're ready.

Answering aloud or working in the background

An agent on a call is either in the chat or in the background. To switch it, click its seat on the call stage. The tooltip reads Move to the background or Bring to the chat. You can also switch it from the People tab. On your phone, tap the agent on the stage.

On a call with just you, an agent in the chat answers every turn. In a group call it answers whatever someone says to it, then goes quiet so the people can keep talking.

Agents on a call

Nebula is the one agent on the call. Specialist agents on the channel's team don't join. Instead, ask Nebula to start the work while you talk, and the tasks land in the channel.

That makes a call a good place to run a standup. Try:

  • "Nebula, run our standup: what the team finished yesterday, what's running today, and what's blocked."

Show Nebula your screen or camera

Share your screen or turn your camera on, then ask Nebula what it sees. It can describe what's there, read the text, find something on the screen or summarize it. That makes it useful for a dashboard, an error message or a whiteboard you're holding up.

I'm sharing the pricing page draft. Nebula, does anything on it contradict what we decided about annual plans?

Nebula

The banner still says annual plans save 15%. We agreed on 20% earlier in the call, so that line needs updating.

You can also ask Nebula to keep an eye on your screen or camera, and it will speak up when something changes. It can run at most two screen or camera watches at a time, and they end when the call does.

On a Mac, sharing your screen needs Screen Recording permission. If it's missing, the share picker offers Open System Settings. Turn Nebula on under Privacy & Security → Screen Recording, then relaunch Nebula before you share.

The recap

The recap builds while you talk. On desktop, open the Recap tab beside the call. On your phone, tap the recap button at the top of the call. Either way you get a short summary, then three running lists.

What the call has covered so far.

What you agreed on, so nobody has to reconstruct it from memory afterwards.

What's still unresolved, ready to pick up in the channel or hand to an agent as a task.

Each list shows its newest three items. Click +N earlier to see the rest.

When the call ends, the summary stays with the channel. On desktop, the Call box shows the ended call with its Summary and Transcript. Older calls are listed under Past sessions. On your phone, the channel's Calls tab lists every past call.

Missed a call? Ask Nebula in the channel what was decided. For call problems, email support@nebula.gg. Nebula can help you write up what happened.
