Nebula is a chat workspace where you and your teammates direct teams of AI agents. Each channel holds one goal, and Nebula, the orchestrator, builds the team for it and coordinates the work.
The first thing you do in a new channel is set its goal with the orchestrator, by talking it through on a call or telling Nebula in the chat. Here's a new q4-launch channel: you give Nebula the goal, and without being asked, it builds a team for it. The task it starts shows it creating three agents and handing each one its first piece of work:

A channel for every goal
A channel is where a goal gets done. Name it after the goal, and everything that goal needs lives inside it: the people working on it, the agents on its team, calls, tasks, apps and the computers its agents use.
A good channel goal is specific enough that Nebula knows what done looks like. A few examples:

On desktop you can start a channel from a starting point such as Project, Ops or Support inbox. Starting points set the channel's look and who can see it. The name and the conversation give it its purpose.
Nebula, the orchestrator
Nebula is the orchestrator. Every workspace has one Nebula, and it orchestrates every channel: it works out what a goal needs, builds the channel's agent team, hands each agent its part of the work, and keeps everyone moving toward the goal. You don't pick an agent before you ask for something. You tell the orchestrator what you want.
In a shared channel, Nebula answers what's aimed at it: a tag, its name ("Nebula, …"), or a reply to one of its messages. It also picks up your quick follow-up, replies in a thread it's part of, and answers to a question it asked. Everything else it leaves alone, so people can talk to each other without an AI jumping in.
Quick questions get answered right in the chat. Bigger work becomes a task: Nebula says it's on it, starts the task, and the result comes back to the channel when it's done.
The channel's agent team
A new workspace has no agents. Once you set a channel's goal, Nebula creates the specialists it needs, so you don't have to ask for a team. An agent created in a channel joins that channel's team and works on the channel's default computer.
Tag an agent on the team with an @mention and it answers for itself, in its own name. An @mention only reaches agents on the channel's team. Tag one that isn't, and Nebula tells you and offers to add it. Nebula asks before adding an existing agent to the team or removing one. Agents it creates for you join straight away, unless the agent is private and others can see the channel. Then it stays off the team until it's shared with the workspace.

Your Nebula DM
Not everything is a team goal. Your Nebula DM is a private conversation that's just yours. On desktop it's Home at the top of the sidebar. There, Nebula answers every message, no tag needed. It's the place for a quick question, a personal errand or anything you're not ready to share.
A private channel that nobody else can read works the same way.
What teams use it for
One goal: its work, its schedule, its record. A q4-launch channel might have a Prospect Researcher building account lists and a Launch Copywriter drafting outreach, plus a scheduled task that posts a status summary every Monday.
What runs on a clock, and what it did last night. Put recurring checks and reports on a schedule, or ask Nebula to watch a status page and tell the channel when something changes.
What came in, and who's on it. Teammates post requests, Nebula turns the ones that need real work into tasks, and everyone can see what's running.
A quiet bench for you and an agent. This starting point makes a private channel, so you can build and test an agent before you bring it to a shared channel.
